Julia Volkmar works as a freelance art director for spatial and graphic design and is based in Berlin.
She studied visual communication with a focus on exhibition and spatial design at Universität der Künste Berlin and École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs Paris.
After working as a graphic designer for Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin (2010-2012), she was a leading art director at chezweitz—office for museal and urban scenography and developed concepts for exhibitions and publications as well as visual identities for spatial, graphic and media content(2012-2018). Amongst others, her projects included exhibitions for the Jewish Museum Berlin, Bauhaus Museum Dessau, Moderna Museet Stockholm and Gemäldegalerie Berlin.
After several teaching assignments at Bauhaus University Weimar, TU Berlin and TU Braunschweig, she is currently teaching at Universität der Künste Berlin.
